Dothan, Ala. (June 27, 2019) — Westside Terrace Healthcare has been recognized as a 2019 recipient of the Silver – Achievement in Quality Award for its commitment to improving the lives of residents through quality care. The distinction is the second of three progressive award levels through the National Quality Award Program, presented by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL), the leading association for long-term and post-acute care. Westside Terrace previously received a Bronze – Commitment to Quality​ Award before applying at the Silver level. 

The program honors association members across the country that have demonstrated their dedication to improving quality of care for seniors and persons with disabilities. This year, the organization announced 183 Silver awards for long-term and post-acute care providers in 50 states and the District of Columbia. Westside Terrace is one of four Silver award recipients in Alabama and the only one in Dothan.

“It’s tremendous to be honored for a second time on a national level for our commitment to care and to know that our efforts are helping our residents live better lives,” Administrator Kristie Hughes said. “It’s validation that we’re on the right track.”

Based on the core values and criteria of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, AHCA/NCAL’s National Quality Award Program, established in 1996, challenges member providers to achieve performance excellence through three progressive levels—Bronze, Silver, and Gold.

According to the AHCA/NCAL website: “At the Silver Award level, applicants continue to learn and develop effective approaches that help improve performance and health care outcomes. The Silver criteria, based on the Baldrige Excellence Framework, provide applicants with a thorough assessment of how their organization works, its effectiveness, and tools for improvement in their approaches. The Silver level gives a clear pathway for recipients moving to the highest honor of recognition, the Gold – Excellence in Quality Award.”

“As a Silver Quality Award recipient, Westside Terrace Healthcare is well on its way to progress in their quality journey by continuing to achieve better quality results,” said Alana Wolfe, chair of the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Board of Overseers. “I commend them for this outstanding achievement.”

The 2019 Silver National Quality Awards will be presented at AHCA/NCAL’s 70th Convention and Expo in in Orlando, Florida October 15, 2019.
